Shade sighed, walking with her hair swept across her eyes and her boot scuffing the ground. She was tired, but decided to get up anyway. She was never one for sleeping in and she was tired of loitering around for nothing. She was planning on going on a hunt the next day, and even though she knew what and what On to eat in the wild, she had it all at her grasp, in the Gathering Orchard; there was no point in being adventurous. She glared at the people who were already there, looking for the first hand at the fresh fruit and berries and such. Shade wasn't much of a morning person, and her bad attitude seemed to get worse earlier in the day. She walked through, looking at the different things. She picked a few, putting them in her coat pocket. She'd brought a container for berries, and a smaller vile for their juice. She planned on crushing them up if she needed something to drink. She sighed as a Child stared at her. She looked over and snapped her teeth, making the little girl run away. She smirked, pleased with the fear she put in the little one.

Hayyel had wandered into the Gathering Orchard to watch over the less talented young ones. The gatherers never had much battle smarts and Hayyel often wandered around them, silently keeping everyone safe. She was a dangerous shape. Walking with a predatory movement that caused her steps to be silent, but she did it with out even thinking about it. Heel then toe, the forest undergrowth beneath her feet barely stirred.
She had taken up a spot underneath a tree, leaning her back against it as her feet were planted firmly on the ground. Her red hair obscured her facial features. Her eyes followed the tree line as she searched for possible death, for something that waited just beyond in the Forest. She inhaled, testing the air, as her nostrils flared they caught a familiar scent. She knew all of the Hunters by smell. As her eyes came up to focus on the form of Shade. One of the older Hunters in the Village. She watched her for a few moments, noticing her scaring a young girl, Hayyel sighed and pushed up away from the tree. Slowly, without any hurry in her stride, she made her way toward the other girl.
"Shade, that wasn't very nice," her eyes narrowed when she said it, the Lead Hunter show her obvious displeasure in the other's actions. "It's things like that, that make the younger Children scared of the Hunters." She said. It was true, the Hunters inspired a sort of awe in the Children. They feared the Hunters and yet revered them. Thinking they were amazing for what they did on a day to day basis, going out and bringing the mutated animals down and back for food. But that also had torn a huge rift between the Hunters and the other Children. The Hunter's acted much more like predators than the others. It wasn't always welcome.

Shade glared up as the girl approached her. She knew who she was, though you couldn't really miss her. She was never pleased with the way Hayyel ran things though. Shade thought it would be easier to do things alone than to follow a leader around. She always took pleasure in disobeying the Leader's orders, though she did always get the job done. Just not the way she was supposed to or how she wanted it. She had a bad attitude with everyone in the village-or anywhere else for that matter-but she liked bringing it out most whenever the Leader was around because she tried getting under her skin at anytime she could. Shade always tried to see what made people twitch most, and she thought she'd gotten Hayyel's bruise spot- disorderly conduct off the hunting grounds.
Shade stood up, facing her. "Who said it was a law to be nice? The kid was staring. So I gave it something to stare at." She raised an eyebrow at her. "I could care less what people thought about me or the Hunters. Hunter's aren't the nice type." She picked up her things and put them back into her pack, slinging it over her shoulder. She leaned against a near by tree, leaning her foot against the trunk and folding her arms. She flicked her head so her hair went over one eye, watching for Hayyel's reaction.

Hayyel sneered at the Shade. At least the other girl was being truthful with her. But she was wrong. She was lumping all the Hunters together. There were many different types of Hunters. Sure they all had that predatory part of them, but that didn't mean they were angry and aggressive all the time. It angered Hayyel that this girl didn't even try for the sake of others to be nice. Though that would just be a mocking mask she would wear. One couldn't change just because they wanted to, there had to be something that pushed that person to change. She assumed that this annoying little Hunter, who was unsure of her abilities that she had to prey on the weaker Children, would never change unless something life-threatening happened. Unless something pushed her to her physical and mental limits.
The sneer twisted her lips into an angered expression, "I don't think you have the right to say who is nice and who isn't. Only whatever entities above have that right, they choose who what personality. So I would prefer if you didn't lump all Hunters together in one little category. Besides I would rather not be in the same category as a Hunter as pathetic as you." Hayyel felt the need to give this little ball of attitude some humble pie. Shade was showing nothing but disrespect to her, and Hayyel was her better in the social ladder.
She waited, her eyes already focused in on their target, and her ears waiting for the telltale sign of shifting feet. She made a sharp movement with arms that cause her daggers to loosen in their sheaths and slid slightly toward her hand, then she delicately crossed her arms. A look of boredom came about her pretty features, though her body was relaxed it was ready for a fight. And now she merely waited. Waited for the fish to take the bait.

Shade smirked raising her eyebrow at her words. This was the fight she'd been waiting for. She knew the girl in front of her thought she was better on so many more levels than Shade. Of course, she could care less about what Hayyel thought or said. She always took it as if every word were a praise or compliment in her direction. And it got most people even more infuriated with her that it would turn the fight into a comedy show for Shade. With the actors as her puppets.
"Well I may not have the right, but I can lump whom ever I wish with whatever I wish. A measly pile of garbage with a... cleaner piece of garbage like yourself, is no difference to me. To me, everyone's the same, any evil might as well be all evil." She folded her arms, her smirk growing at the edges of her lips. "What we prefer and what we get though, are to different out comings though. What you prefer, will not always come true. Life is full of such disappointments." She rubbed her nail across the leather skin holding her sword. "I wouldn't say pathetic. More as...difficult." Shade's eyes narrowed, still smirking at the girl in front of her as she loosened her daggers. She may have thought she was scary or threatening, but Shade could care less about what the red head tried to imply, Shade's boots didn't quake so easily.

Hayyel quickly corrected the older Hunter, "No, but I would say pathetic. Because you are. Only the truly pathetic and insecure prey on those who are weaker than them when they get no gain from it. Trust me hunter you do not wish to tangle with me. If you continue on the path you are on you will find yourself with your face carved up to match the ugliness of your insides." It was true, perhaps it wouldn't be done by Hayyel but she knew someone would have enough of the snarky little brat that called herself Shade. It was then that she would be pushed away from the Village, Hayyel didn't want that to happen. Sure Shade was annoying but Hayyel didn't think anyone deserved to be thrown from their home.
She heard the finger of slid across the leather but she continued to stare at the girl's face. Perhaps if she could take her down a peg in her confidence, Hayyel might save her the fate of being a rogue. The others nervously stepped away from the two Hunters. Hayyel did not find herself a scary person but the others certainly did when she was angry. Right now she looked it. The stare she was sending toward Shade was a mix of hot flames of anger and the cold ice of the readiness for battle.
She was a cool and collected fighter. Always ready for battle and quite fluid in her movements. Thats one of the reasons she was the Lead Hunter. The fights were never a dance for her but they did hold some type of grace. There was no beauty in her killing, only the rush and intoxicating adrenaline spike. Something she had learned she could not live without. Hunting and fighting were her life right now. Protecting the Village. She was a protector. So what the hell was she doing about to threaten one of the things she had sworn to protect? Because, a voice in her head said with a snicker, she contains darkness in her heart. It takes very little for hers to let go. Perhaps she will be one of them soon.

Shade raised an eyebrow at the accusation. This girl seemed to be egging Shade on. "I'm neither insecure, nor pathetic. Not only do I pray on those weaker than me, I prey on those stronger than me as well. And I do gain from it. I get the pleasure of watching someone suffer or wallow in self pity. People are pathetic Hayyel. Not just a person, but everyone is. You are yourself for wasting your time, trying to argue with a person who could care less if you died the next day. All you're really doing at the moment is talking to thin air, wasting your breath. I doubt anyone else would listen to you jabber on with meaningless insults. I'm just too bored to do anything else really, and you're a good show at the moment. So is there any other insult you'd like to throw at me, or are you going to let me be on my way. Maybe you'd like to give me a few cuts and bruises before I take my leave. Well if you insist." Shade opened her arms for the girl to hurt her, meerly smirking at the girl.
Shade had a very bad way of ending fights that she didn't care about. She really didn't care for any fight, it was just something to pass the time with .Nobody ever really hurt her feelings and she mainly just watched the person get red in the face, while taking on the comments with sarcasm and acting like they were compliments. She never really cared if anyone insulted her, since it was all opinion. Besides, she already new most of the things people tried to wound her with You're a right witch. You're so ignorant. You don't care about anyone but yourself, you nasty little twit. She'd heard most of the comments at least 3 times, and anything new she heard, she would just grin at. It was like claiming a new title for her every time. One day she was the Ignorant Jackass, the next she was the Pathetic Lowlife. She was always changing and it sort of pleased her to be called names. It just added to the list of things she already knew she was.

Hayyel's blades slipped into her hands smoothly and she pointed one of the curved daggers at the girl, "So in other words you're just a bitch who has no soul. Perhaps you shouldn't be trusted." With that said she was moving quickly, her speed was something she relied on. That and her feline-like agility. She wanted to feel the girl bow to her. Feel her world turned upside down and back against her. Hayyel was not prey. She was a predator and would show this "Shade" that. She would also show her that Hayyel did not allow anyone who had some illusion in their mind that they could go unpunished without fear of retribution.
She moved loosely, her muscles pulling smoothly and rippling beneath her skin. They tensed as she brought her hand up, with her dagger to press it against Shade's neck. She waited for the tell tale press of flesh against steel. Waited for the scent of anxiety to permeate the air. "I have no problem with recommending you be banished from the Village," she whispered. It was more to herself that to Shade but it was loud enough that the other girl could hear.
She didn't feel safe with this girl sleeping in the same bunk house as her. Didn't know if this girl would protect her if they went out on a hunt together. Who was to say she wouldn't turn around with a mutated cat at her back and Shade as her hunting partner and the girl did nothing? Who was to say she wouldn't do that with anyone else?

Shade raised her eyebrow ad stood still while the girl twirled her blade around her. "Well as I've been called a bitch many times, the no soul part is new. And partially true." Her katana slipped out of it's holder and she slyly moved the girls arm away with the blade, not hard enough to cut into her skin, but with enough force for her to move her arm. "I never said I shouldn't be trusted. If you don't trust me, how can you trust yourself? See, I'm just like the half of you that hesitates. I don't care if you have me banished. I'm the toughest of your fighters that acts without hesitation. I could very well be on the Evil's side as well. The only thing keeping me from them though, is my residence here. I could be a very big problem for you if I was sent away."
She quickly leapt into the tree above them, climbing swiftly and easily a few branches above Hayyle's head. "I never asked for a fight Hayyel, only an argument." A sick grin twisted onto Shade's face. "You've acted wrongly, dear. This isn't playtime. You could seriously get hurt." She perched herself onto the branch, her katana swinging into her hand. "Like I said: I'm not like the others around here. I'm not about to lean low and kiss your feet. If you want to have a problem with me, I would suggest you keep it to yourself. Otherwise, you could get yourself into some deep shit. And as I've observed from around here, that could just be one more thing onto your pretty little head."
Word Count: 290 OOC: Sorry she keeps running and talking. It's like a habit for her to not fight with someone on the same side as her and to just annoy them with words instead.

Hayyel allowed the pressed of the katana to stop her arm. She followed the movement of her jumping into the tree without a blink. Two dominant girls could never get along. But should she be the better person and just walk away. She danced on her feet for a few seconds, trying to make up her mind. Decisions, she was never good at making them. Her primal side told her to throw the girl on the ground and press her blade on Shade's neck and give her a small little slice, just enough to tell her not to play around with Hayyel's Village.
But her rational side, which sounded oddly like Rook, told her that she shouldn't care. She was the better person and free to walk away at any time. With that she gripped the hilts of her knives tightly, her knuckles turning white with the pressure, and then she turned on her heel and began to disappear deeper into the Forest, the more dangerous "heart." The place that you could tell pulsed with life and the darkness swallowed and light. The animals there were ravenous, always attacking whatever was foolish enough to go there. Hayyel wasn't stupid though and knew exactly what she was getting herself into. She often went there just to blow off steam.
A exhaled breath that was half annoyance and half regret expelled from her lips. She licked them and said, "Didn't know you were such a chicken shit Shade. You could have just told me you were too afraid to back up what your snarky little mouth spouted off." Hayyel feared nothing, save for the death of her friends... of her family. Perhaps that was her downfall. Fearing nothing, not even death or pain was stupid and utterly blind. But it was who she was, she couldn't change herself because she didn't see anything wrong with no fear. The shadows pressed around her, desiring to swallow her up, but it was as if something were keeping them at bay. But then as her body stepped into them fully with a smirk over her shoulder at Shade the blackness curled around her form and she was gone. Though really she was just moving through the trees, barely making a sound as her feet pushed off against limbs when she jumped from one to the next.

Shade glared at her as she clenched her daggers. Some people thought Shade was minorly bi polar with the was she could switch from sarcastic to hatred so fast. Shade agree with them even sometimes. She didn't know anyone else who could go from cocky to vengeful in the blink of an eye like she could. As the girl started to walk away, Shade's glaring eyes watched her. She'd half expected her to climb after her and try to brawl up in the tree. Shade wasn't afraid of a fight, but knew that her strength was where the need for balance was present.
Shade could balance like a cat, walking across a branch like it was her sidewalk. She often fought in the trees, where she could move easily and limberly, and where her opponents got stuck or slipped, moving slower to make sure they didn't fall. Shade's small figure allowed her to move swiftly on foot, but even swifter in the branches. She jumped and swung over head of Hayyel, baring her teeth as the girl insulted her. But as she walked into the darkness, Shade stood, looking through to watch her. She could see well into the darkness, since she could control it herself. Half of her wanted to push it away, or make it cloud around Hayyel completely, making her fall or slip, seriously hurting or even killing herself. But the part of her that won told her, in order for her to keep living in the quiet village where she was barely bothered, she would have to spare the Hunter, though her hatred for the girl was growing. Instead she climbed higher into he tree and decided to follow her. She was careful to either stay in front or behind of her, knowing if she was anywhere above the girl, she'd be vulnerable. And she knew Hayyel would likely attack her if she didn't know who she was.
Scratch that Shade thought with a grimace on her face as she spun higher into a tree She'd probably be more likely to kill me if she knew who I was She stayed a distance from the girl, her eyes able to see everything in the shadows. She called to the darkness, having it wrap around her so she was unable to be seen by any creature and/or Hayyel.

Hayyel was moving fast, her movements fluid and in sync with the other. Pressing off with her feet and then as soon as she did that she gripped with her hands on a limb. Her body would then swing up and come into a crouching position on said tree branch and she would do it all over again. Her daggers had been sheathed but she was always on the ready. Waiting for the beasts of the heart to come up and attack. They didn't like strangers in their territory. She breathed deeply and suddenly she stopped moving and stayed crouching on a branch.
She inhaled again, and suddenly there was a crashing sound coming through the trees. She calmly stood on the thick tree limb and turned. A huge, mutated elk came barreling through the trees. It's eyes glowed red and pelt shined a deep yellow. The coat had a glow about it and Hayyel could see tusks protruding from its mouth. She crouched once again as it slammed it's antlers into the tree. She gripped the tree tightly as it swayed dangerously. The elk whistled, its high piercing call ripping through Hayyel's ear drums and making them feel like they were rupturing.
With a snarl the red head unsheathed her left dagger and jumped from the tree, splaying out her arms and legs to slow her fall. She angled herself to land on the creatures back and made it almost perfectly. Still she managed to get a cut on one of her forearms, though it wasn't bad. The elk, twisted around in confusion, trying to unseat Hayyel and with anger and frustration began to try to buck the Hunter off. She held on and grimly plunged her curved dagger down into it's chest, through it's ribs and into it's lung and heart. With a wicked snapping sound of the ribs cracking, Hayyel twisted the dagger's blade and finished the kill.
The elk collapsed and slowly began to die. The Hunter stood and withdrew her dagger only to draw it across the creature throat to quicken the death, so it didn't suffer.
Then glancing up Hayyel called out, "I can hear you, you know. Come out, come out where ever you are." She wiped her knife on her pants to clean it of the blood and glanced around for the person that had been following her.

Shade stayed silent as she watched Hayyel's tree be beaten by the elk. She wasn't about to move unless it looked like the other girl was in fact in danger. But as she watched Hayyel pounce onto the animal, she stood, watching just in case she would need to help her. As Hayyel finished the kill, she heard a crack in the leaves. She ignored the girl's statement, and look out to the bushes to find a pair of familiar mis-matched eyes, one red, the other bright yellow. "Skip! No!" She hissed down at the creature, her pet, but it either ignored her, or didn't hear. It crouched in the bushes, smelling the blood of the elk. Shade glanced back at Hayyel. She wasn't worried about Skip hurting her, but more of Hayyel hurting Skip. She quietly stepped down each branch until she was on the last branch to the ground, still shrouded by blackness so hayyel couldn't see her. Shade saw the eyes dart in her direction, Skip being able to see through the blackness over Hayyel's head. Shade shook her head slowly and Skip narrowed his eyes, lowering himself and keeping his eyes hidden so the light wasn't too attractive. Shade stayed over Hayyel to make sure that she didn't notice Skip. Shade moved her hand and a shadow formed itself in front of Skip, so the bushes were blackened and Skip was un-see-able. Shade looked back down at Hayyel. Skip had been Shade's friend ever since she first came into the forest. Shade had watched the animal stalk her as she made her adventures and after Shade finally coaxed him to come out of the shadows and to trust her, Skip stayed close to her and near the village. He always helped her pack with kills and Shade always kept him safe from the Hunters. He'd become her pet, apart of her family, her only friend- and Shade wasn't about to let Hayyel hurt him. he was more important to her that hayyel was, but Skip knew not to hurt anyone from the village. Hayyel's body froze, her gaze flew up at the sound of a whisper. She knew the voice and the tone. She inhaled and smelled the scent of Shade. But she sounded as if she were talking to someone. Narrowing her eyes, the sea green gaze skipped over the bushes looking for the person she could possibly be addressing. But no one could be seen. Still Hayyel had heard her and with that in her mind Hayyel was digging her nails into the tree's bark that was before her and she was swinging herself to stand in front of the scent.
A sneer curled her lips as she said an annoyed greeting, "Well, hello there Shade. May I ask what you are doing here?" She stood and leaned against her tree trunk with annoyance evident in her features. She had no desire to be followed. Especially not by this annoying little pest. Her eyes trained on the general direction of where Shade stood. Not exactly looking at her but not exactly missing her either. She could not cover her scent or stop herself from being heard by Hayyel. Being seen, yes, she had that power. But not the other two.
Hayyel's powers were strong. They would easily aid her in the fight if Shade decided to fight her in a cowardly way and battle her invisibly. But it would still be hard for Hayyel. She didn't think Shade would do that though, she thought Shade had at least some pride. But who knew with the other girl. She could be lower than even that.
